Warren McLean, Vice President of Development

As Vice President of Development, McLean leads CRF’s efforts to enlist support from philanthropic institutions, corporations and others seeking to promote community development. McLean joined CRF’s staff in 2000 after serving on CRF’s Board of Trustees for over six years. Before joining CRF’s staff, McLean was the president and chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA), a Minneapolis-based private nonprofit that provides technical assistance, financing, and sales assistance to over 600 minority owned businesses, annually. During his tenure, McLean tripled the organization’s budget, established a $5.6 million loan fund, and implemented Vision 2000, which led the organization to unprecedented growth. In 1997, McLean was named Ernst & Young’s National Entrepreneur of the Year in the Supporter of Entrepreneurship category. That same year, he was named Minnesota Minority Business Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Prior to MEDA, he held positions as an Account Marketing Representative for IBM and as a Registered Representative for Kidder, Peabody & Co. McLean has a M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
